Police Beat

At a rehab and nursing home on Brecksville Road, officers responded to a report of a violent resident. The man had pulled out his catheter and was destroying his room. Although a doctor okayed his hospitalization, it became apparent the man would not go willingly. In order to sedate him, an officer stood behind the man’s wheelchair to assist in restraining him. Afterward, the officer discovered the patient’s blood on his forearm and a cut on his thumb. He went to the hospital for a blood exposure test.  

On St. Nicholas Drive, officers responded to an argument over a sink full of dishes. The homeowner stated her houseguest of nine months was not doing his share of the housework and she wanted him gone. The man said he was sick and tired of being nagged and degraded. The woman was told she would have to get an eviction notice. The man was advised to help around the house.

On Robert Burns Drive, a resident claimed his mailbox had been destroyed for a second time this year. The replacement would cost $1,500.  

A woman told officers she left her car unlocked when she went into a childcare center to pick up her daughter. On her return, she discovered her Louis Vuitton purse and wallet missing. The officer checked for surveillance cameras at neighboring businesses. As he was leaving, the lady flagged him down to say she found her purse in the bathroom of the childcare center. She forgot she took it with her. She apologized for the inconvenience.   

On Kingsbury Trail, a resident filed a report when he discovered adult-sized shoe prints on his A/C and generator units. The units were located near a bathroom window.   

On Humphrey Road, a resident showed officers a dent and fresh gouge marks at the top of his garage door. The door tracks were warped and it would not open. He advised that a possible suspect was his soon to be ex-wife.

A resident stated she mailed her credit card payment from her home. Two weeks later, the bank closed her account for nonpayment. The bank verified no one else had attempted to cash the check.

An employee at a local supermarket shared video of a man and four accomplices stealing liquor. The total loss during nine recent incidents exceeded $1,500. The employee thinks the man is responsible for stealing most of the store’s loss of $23,000 worth of liquor. She identified the man.     

On Broadview Road, a man accused his wife of throwing rocks at him. She accused him of cheating on her. There was a lot of “he said, she said.” In lieu of leaving, the man agreed to spend the night in a detached garage. Alcohol was involved. Time 5:30 p.m.     

At the Richfield Heritage Preserve, a dog escaped its harness and attacked a German Shorthaired. The resulting neck wound required emergency veterinary care. The aggressor dog’s owner apologized and volunteered to pay the vet bill.     

On Humphrey Road, someone stole a resident’s “Trump” sign.   

Officers were called to a domestic disturbance on Briarwood Drive involving a woman, her estranged husband, and a man she was “seeing.” The husband became angry when he drove by the house and saw his wife’s new squeeze. There was some yelling, physical contact between husband and wife, and damage to the other man’s truck before the husband left. The other man told police he understood why the husband was angry, that the husband’s behavior was warranted and “no way should he be in any trouble whatsoever.”  

Another dead deer was found in a resident’s yard in the area of Streetsboro Road and Ridgeview Drive. This one also had evidence of having been shot.

Officers received a call for a welfare check on a man living on Hart Road. The caller had received a “Goodbye” text. The house was dark, doors were locked, and no one answered the door. The resident’s parents in Hinckley were contacted. The father arrived with a key. When the door opened, a German Shepherd made a dash for the officers with the son in close pursuit. Officers determined the son had not harmed himself and he admitted texting “Goodbye” when he meant “Good night.” Officers cleared the scene. The parents stayed to speak with their son.    

Meanwhile, back at the motel

Two couples were hanging out in the hot tub. One couple started to argue with each other so the man went to his car to relax. His girlfriend sought him out and proceeded to attack him. When the other couple tried to intervene, the female received a kick to the head. After they were separated, the male victim ordered a ride share for his girlfriend back to her residence in Diamond, Ohio. Alcohol was involved. Time 12:06 a.m.   

Officers were called to an argument between the management and a couple renting a room. The argument centered on the renters failing to disclose they had pets with them. Management told police that violated the rental agreement and they wanted the couple removed.
