Bath Volunteers for Service earn AFP Service Award for community contributions
The members of Bath Volunteers for Service were honored with the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Special Recognition Award, acknowledging their efforts in making a positive impact in Bath and across Summit County.
BVS was established in 1958 when 13 women came together with a goal of helping to better the lives of local children and adults through fundraising and volunteer service. The group annually awards grants to qualified charities and nonprofits serving Summit County. Additionally, BVS awards student scholarships to graduating high school seniors living in the Revere Local School district. In 2024, over $55,000 was returned to the community in student scholarships and grants to 26 area service organizations.
BVS was nominated not only for their fundraising efforts but also for their outstanding work in organizing community outreach projects including blood drives, new member service projects, Salvation Army bell ringing and activities at Bath Township’s “Fall into Nature” event each October.
“Receiving the AFP award is a true testament to the passion and dedication of our volunteers,” saidBVS President Jane Scott. “Their unwavering commitment to helping others has made a meaningful difference, and we are proud to see their efforts recognized.”
The award ceremony took place during AFP’s annual National Philanthropy Day celebration, where BVS was one of nine award recipients lauded for their community support, teamwork and leadership.
The AFP represents more than 30,000 members in over 240 chapters around the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The AFP awards recognize the vital role that volunteers and philanthropists play in shaping a better world. ∞
