Summit Metro Parks announced it chose Sagamore Hills resident Mark Szeremet as its chief of planning and development. With over 28 years of service with the park district, Szeremet will now lead the planning department in planning and implementing capital improvements to preserve the quality of natural resources and enhance the visitor experience.

Szeremet holds a master’s degree in urban planning, design and development from Cleveland State University. Since joining the park district as its first park planner in 1996, his responsibilities have included general and regional planning, design, construction, surveying, real estate, policy and zoning issues, permitting, GIS/GPS, grant writing and management and other special projects.  

In a press release, Szeremet said, “I hope to connect with everyone – at events, programs and facilities – to best support our community and together ensure that each day is a wonderful day to enjoy the parks.”

Several Nordonia High School seniors were named to the 2024 Division II All-Ohio Football Teams. Quarterback Ben Chesser and offensive lineman Grant Lefeld were named to Third Team Offense.Jordan Jackson, a defensive lineman, was named to Third Team Defense. Defensive back Blake Allen was given an Honorable Mention.

Mark Wilson, Nordonia High School graduate, is one of 74 Baldwin Wallace University fall sports student-athletes to be named to the 2024 fall Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. 

Katherine Ziegler was named to the Pennsylvania Western University dean’s list for the fall 2024 semester.Capital University announced Jonathan Mitchner was named to the Provost’s List for the fall 2024 semester. ∞
