Children services department, sheriff’s office form partnership

Summit County Children Services, the agency that responds to reports of child abuse and neglect, has partnered with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, which has assigned a deputy sheriff devoted to child abuse and neglect investigations for up to 40 hours per week.

Deputy Joseph Krupla has been selected to serve in this capacity. Krupla was a patrol officer with the Village of Peninsula Police Department. He was a K-9 handler, a member of the Summit Metro Crash Response Team and is a certified school resource officer. At the agency, he is a liaison for SCCS to other law enforcement entities and will assist with any safety concerns relative to agency staff and its campus.

Last year, SCCS served one out of every 12 children in Summit County. If you believe that a child is at risk of abuse and neglect, call the SCCS 24/7 hotline at 330-434-KIDS (5437).  To learn more about Summit County Children Services, visit summitkids.org.
