Mayor’s Corner

Hopefully, Punxsutawney Phil will not see his shadow on Feb. 2, so winter will end earlier and spring will begin soon. I wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day.

The Village of Richfield snow crews are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We respond to calls out at any time of the day or night. We work a four-man crew, with four different routes throughout town. The route map is found on our website.

Our priorities are main roads first, and all side streets are secondary. Main roads would be streets such as state Route 303, Brecksville Road and Broadview Road (state Route 176). Secondary roads include Donna Drive, Highlander Parkway, Kinross Lakes and Hawthorne. We do our best to clear the streets by rush hour in the mornings and evenings. I ask for your patience during these heavy snows.

Please give courtesy to all snowplow drivers this season, as they are trying their best to make things safe for you.

We closed the 2024 financial books on January 8. In 2024, we collected $33,660,541 of the $33,866,562 budgeted for all funds’ revenue, or 99.4% of the budget. In 2023, we collected $33,162,840 in total. On the expenditure side, $33,048,835 was expended overall through 2024, or 88.9% of the $37,154,895 budgeted for expenditures. In 2023, we expended $34,863,396.

Looking only at the general fund, 102.7% of the revenues have been collected and 95.6% of the budget was expended. In 2024, we brought in more revenue than we spent, thus increasing our overall cash balances from $12,397,437 to $13,009,142 from operations. If you have questions, concerns or comments, please contact me, or my executive assistant, at 330-659-9201, ext. 234, or email me at mwheeler@richfieldvillageohio.org.
