This award-winning band performs with violins, a mandolin, hammered dulcimer, recorders, banjo and guitar plus unusual instruments like the bowed psaltery, baritone fiddle, shruti box, banjolin, guitjo and doumbek. The free concert is Sunday, April 13, at 4 p.m. and open to the public. Simple Gifts presents a wide variety of ethnic folk music, ranging from lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer freilachs and exotic Balkan dance tunes.
