Spotlights Theater presents “Sense and Sensibility”

Kate Hamil’s playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes and misfortunes of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, “Sense and Sensibility” is full of humor, emotional depth and bold theatricality. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

The show is directed by Jena Gross and Kayleigh Joyce, with technical direction by Daniel Hunsicker. It is produced by Tim Anderson and features Abbey Marshall, Katie Atkinson, Linda Sekanic, Xaverie Baker, Irene Molnar, Elizabeth Flood, Joe Kenderes, Austin Vandegrift, Calvin Adkins, Masario Atkins, and Lisa Mortensen.

Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 16-31, at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. Performances will take place at the Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater, 9543 Broadview Rd., on the Broadview Center campus next to the Police Department. Ticket are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. For tickets, visit the theater website, broadview-heights-spotlights.org. ∞
