Winter Wonders
Friends of Richfield Heritage Preserve will host their annual Winter Wonders event in The Lodge at Richfield Heritage Preserve on Saturday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free. Delicious, pre-packaged Christmas cookies will be available for purchase. Local artisans will offer handcrafted items.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will take place, noon-2 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children, 2-12 years old. Children under 2 are free. Photo ops with Sunny the Reindeer Horse will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Father Christmas and some of his trusted elves will be present on horseback and hand out candy canes. Holiday craft making, face painting, and other activities will be offered for the younger guests. Miss Diane, from the Richfield Branch Library, will share holiday stories and play Book Bingo at 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
Friends merchandise and fresh holiday swags will be sold, and refreshments offered for a donation. Attendees are encouraged to bring an ornament representing a special memory or in commemoration of a person or a pet and place it on the Stars of Our Lives Tree.
Partner groups will have information about their organizations and offer activities and/or sell some of their merchandise. There will be a raffle and photo opportunities in front of a large holiday wreath.
Proceeds from this event will go toward the fundraising campaign to restore and preserve the 102-year-old Kirby’s Mill. The Friends have already spent over $300,000 to restore the iconic structure.
